Marvelous early 20th century Chinese bronze Coal Iron. Decorated with dragons and asian flowers trimmings.
The coal iron is 20.5 cm high, 20.5 cm long and 13.5 cm large.
Iron with coal appeared at the beginning of the 17th century. They were very rare for a long time and symbolized prosperity, because it was used to iron silks and other precious fabric's. But in the late 19th century they became stylish and decorative. In China it was often presented as gifts to ambassadors and officials.
