Adderleys Ltd began producing porcelain and earthenware in 1876 at the Daisy Bank Pottery in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. This factory had already been producing porcelain since 1778 for many other companies. He took advantage of a nearby marl hole where they dug the clay used in their porcelain. At this location, Adderley gradually developed a reputation for offering fine porcelain.
