Late 19th century French pharmacy gasifier seltzer dispenser made by Gazogene Briet A Paris circa 1890-1900.
Measurement: 44 cm high and 17 cm of diameter at the base.
In perfect condition, the seltzer dispenser has upper and lower glass bowls covered in rattan set with pewter metal fittings and standing on a white porcelain base.
Seltzer / Soda siphons like this were alternatives to the larger wire covered ones of the period and were usually found in pharmacy, small bars, bistros and private houses. The rattan covering like the wire covered ones was to protect the siphon exploding when too vigorously shaken.
